9 AM – The Game: an experiential workshop to introduce the concepts of Strategic Doing within a network of ready and committed participants.

1 PM – The Workshop: What could we do and what should we do – when it is all about education and life-long learning?
4 PM – Wrap-up and Dismissal
Context for action: The concept of Strategic Doing balances open participation with leadership direction, by identifying and staying focused on transformational questions.
With Strategic Doing, there is no final strategic plan. Instead, plans are more like strategic agendas that can be quickly revised to reflect midcourse corrections, new insights from what we have learned, and new opportunities that may arise.
This Strategic Doing Workshop will be guided by Ed Morrison of Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development. Strategic Doing provides context and guidelines for getting things done rapidly by helping everyone get on the same page with a focus on results and not on the planning to achieve results.
What do we expect to achieve? Participants will work to define:
1. Opportunities in education and life-long learning
2. Outcomes with characteristics and metrics
3. Initial action plans with responsibilities
4. A commitment to meet regularly
The Strategic Doing process focuses on four key questions:
1. What could we do together?
2. What should we do together?
3. What will we do together?
4. What’s our 30/30 – what have we each done in the past 30 days, what will we do in the next 30?
Instead of broad visions, attendees pursue measurable strategic outcomes. Instead of focusing on problems and deficits, they define new opportunities by connecting their assets. Instead of looking for a visionary leader, they recognize that leadership in open networks is a shared responsibility.
There is no cost for this event, but registration is required.
