Transforming Education So That Black Lives Matter with Jesse Hagopian
Event Information
About this Event
What are our roles as educators, students, professional staff, and community members to uproot institutional racism at all levels of our education system - from preschool through post-graduate university studies? How do we insure Black Lives Matter on campus year round - not just in February?
In this SpeakOut virtual event, award-winning educator and author Jesse Hagopian focuses on these questions, looking at issues of funding, curriculum, campus policies, and hiring practices as a first step. And, he argues, we also need to challenge anti-Blackness and take an intersectional approach that includes all people — immigrants, women, LGBTQ people - anyone facing oppression. In other words, nothing short of fundamental transformation!
