Event Details

Imagine transforming your teaching. A Workshop combining the 2018-2020 Trinity College Piano Syllabus and the Orff Schulwerk Approach to Music Education.

Paul TeachingUnshackle your piano teaching from traditional methods. Reinvigorate your studio and your students’ enjoyment of learning piano with a focus on exam preparation.

This one-day course will offer you (and your students) the opportunity to achieve more musical performances, enhanced learning, better memory as well as improving exam results.

You’ll be amazed how much fun you’ll have trying out these new teaching strategies and so will your easily distracted, screen driven students of today!

In this one-day course you’ll learn strategies which stimulate student’s brains using the interactive and multi-sensory approaches of Orff-Schulwerk. This pedagogical approach places equal emphasis on all the elements of learning music to create well-rounded musicians.

Play while you learnDuring each practical, hands-on session, presenters Susan Head and Paul Myatt will apply the Orff-Schulwerk approach (to music education) to piano teaching. The knowledge embodied in multi-sensory activities provides a rich learning environment for students as well as being fun.

Learn skills to design creative, engaging, learning pathways for each student with “off the bench” activities that are easily transferred back to the keyboard. As all participants will sit at a keyboard and experience the power of the Orff approach to assist students participating in Trinity College exams, there will be limited places available. Book now.

In this workshop you will:

  • Have FUN learning and experiencing the Orff approach.
  • Learn how to teach up to 3 pieces from Initial to Grade 4 of the Trinity college 2018-2020 Piano Syllabus using the Orff Approach.
  • Explore the Trinity supporting tests of Aural, Sight Reading Musical Knowledge & Improvisation.
  • Experience first hand APPS and other technologies that will enhance your students learning and practising outcomes.
  • Take away a list of resources and online content that will continue to assist your teaching.
