Transfers & Injury Prevention for Caregivers - Level 1
Sat, March 25, 2017, 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM EDT
Many people are familiar with Back Care Strategies and Safe Lifting Principles, but is this information really understood? This workshop provides an overview of basic body anatomy and movement patterns, and explains how injuries can occur over time and how they can be avoided. Participants will learn how to apply the principles of biomechanics to their advantage to "lighten the load" during the provision of care. This hands-on, interactive session reinforces evidence-based Safe Patient Handling & Transfer techniques. Participants will leave this workshop better equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to provide effective care to their clients or loved ones. This workshop is suitable for Personal Support Workers, Companions, Volunteers, or anyone who plays a role in assisting seniors.
