Facilitated by Dameta Wright and Sarah Buffie.

Traumatic experiences impact us all differently and we know that getting back into our bodies can sometimes be an unnerving process. This class intends to help us begin to understand how trauma affects the mind and the body and to learn practical ways to continue on our healing journey by getting back into our bodies in a safe way. We will acknowledge our experiences and hold space for one another to develop the resilience needed to rise above what weighs us down. Together, we will build a supportive community wherein we empower one another.

By combining centering, theory and movement practices we hope that participants will leave this experience with practical tools and a supportive community to regain healthy and safe connection with others.

Dameta is a yoga teacher, martial arts teacher and master herbalist. She believes that yoga is nourishing to the spirit, mind and body for anyone who chooses to practice. She strives to create yoga experiences in a safe and supportive space where each student feels inspired. As an experienced teacher and retreat facilitator, Dameta has designed class offerings for students seeking to find peace in their bodies and those that may be exploring yoga for the first time. It has been her pleasure to work with beginners and experienced students alike. Dameta believes that everything begins with the breath. She invites all students to the mat to breathe, move and flow in their own unique ways.

About Sarah: Nothing has the power to heal like supportive relationships. Sarah Buffie helps organizations and service providers, educators and families disrupt current models of thinking by building empathy and connection through the power of community and storytelling. Sarah is also a Core Facilitator at the Hive.

This class will meet 5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12, 6/19, and 6/26.
