Event description

Description

This January, we are excited to offer a training opportunity with Ryan Dowd, Executive Director of Hesed House, a comprehensive homeless resource center in Illinois. Ryan has developed training specifically for libraries and is the author of the Librarians Guide to Homelessness: an Empathy-Drive Approach to Solving Problems, Preventing Conflict and Serving Everyone.

Recognizing that “hands-on” training can be critical in this type of work, Alameda County Library is bringing Ryan on January 29 and 30, 2018 for in-person training. Ryan regularly travels the country training libraries, police departments, schools and other organizations on how to work compassionately with difficult homeless individuals.
