Description

About the Retreat

Start the new year with a new direction by dedicating time to quiet reflection. This silent meditation retreat offers an opportunity to discover a deeper level of meditation, tranquil abiding, that arises through training in meditation in a systematic way over many sessions. By gaining experience with trainquil abiding by meditating repeatedly and consistently, we become inspired and confident in developing a regular meditation practice after retreat. This superior state of peace helps us make progress in our spiritual journey and improves quality of life.

During the Thursday evening teaching, Gen Khedrub will describe the retreat format and explain how to train in meditation and improve concentration. On Friday and Saturday, silence will be maintained throughout the building and grounds.

Participants can attend one or both retreat days; however, the Thursday evening introductory session is required. Friday and Saturday registration includes a light lunch.

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Khedrub, a Western Buddhist monk, is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington in Seattle. He has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s guidance for many years. His heartfelt teachings are presented with clarity and humor that make them accessible to everyone. Through his kindness, humility and deep understanding of Buddha’s teachings, Gen Khedrub provides an inspiring example of a contemporary Buddhist practitioner we can follow.
