COURSE OVERVIEW:

As the summary states, this course will show you what it takes to amp up your training game to an advanced level. This event is for anyone who is a new or seasoned trainer, speaker or coach, anyone responsible for training folks in any capacity. Even ScrumMasters, Product Owners, and Agile and Scrum Trainers can benefit greatly from this training and find ways to incorporate brain-based learning techniques into their daily environment. This training course is the perfect marriage to Agile.

This is NOT one of those trainings where you leave, and can't find a way to immediately begin accessing your learnings, and then six months down the road you can't even remember what you learned because you didn't get to apply it. The way this course is structured gives you time to learn, time to practice, time to collaborate, and time cement your learning. The course even provides time for you to consider how to use what you learn in your own environment, while you're still in class.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Anyone responsible for delivering training; either formal or on the fly such as a Scrum Master, or a Coach does
  • Anyone looking to amp up their training game
  • Anyone looking to make a memorable mark on the hearts and minds of their students
  • College professors and school teachers
  • Corporate trainers
  • People hoping to get into training as a career
  • Product Owners who run design sessions with customers
  • Trainers who train trainers

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Sharon Bowman's best-selling book "Training from the BACK of the Room! 65 Ways to Step Aside and Let Them Learn
  • Sharon's newest book "Using Brain Science to Make Training Stick
  • The participant course workbook with many exercises to "...Make Training Stick"
  • An updated trainer's 'tool bag' of brain-based, practical without being complicated instructional strategies you can put to use immediately in your own training programs and in your teams
  • A collection of "brain activating tools" -- prizes, training souvenirs, and learning aids -- that can be used in the participant's own training programs
  • A certificate of completion suitable for framing
  • The opportunity to meet other TBR practitioners and to collaborate with them during and after the course

A note to experienced trainers: We've all seen sessions where our learners don't seem engaged or actively learning; maybe even disconnected from the class. Not the case in this class, and will help you see more success in your future classes. You'll be able to use techniques that will help your learners cement what they are there to learn.

A note to Agile coaches, Scrum trainers, Scrum Masters: You'll be able to combine Agile and Scrum processes and principles with Accelerated Learning to create collaborative, interactive, fun and memorable learning experiences. You will learn techniques that can be used to elicit the ever-elusive 'meaningful feedback' during retrospectives.

After participating in this interactive course, you will be able to:

  • Explain and define the most current brain science about human learning - information that is directly applicable to all instruction, whether in classrooms, one-on-one, or computer-based.
  • Apply "The Six Trumps" - six learning principles based on brain science that will significantly enhance learning and retention, regardless of the content being taught, and you'll be able to recognize these six learning principles in action.
  • Use these principles in any learning environment: classroom, e-learning, one-on-one, small and large group instruction.
  • Combine brain science and technology and enhance learning by using both in creative, collaborative ways.
  • Access new resources that will expand your knowledge of the most current brain science about human learning.
  • Utilize a trainer's tool bag of practical tips and activities - a collection of best practices that you created during the training program.

About the Instructor:

Karen Bruns has been serving as an Enterprise Agility Coach & Trainer for the past five years; most recently her clients are in the private sector. Prior to that she was in the public sector. She has experienced success in transforming teams and organizations into well-oiled Agile engines that purr in both environments. She has successfully coached functional managers to better understand and embrace their complimentary role within Agile. Karen has worked closely with executive personnel, project managers, product owners, developers, systems analysts, testers and vendors. She has lived the reality of serving as a scrum master, product owner, and team member, making her uniquely qualified to effectively coach these team roles. She does not believe in "installing Agile," but understands it is a cultural change that must be first embraced by leadership. Karen has a natural passion for Agile and the power of transformation it holds. She is a practitioner of servant leadership, not servant beatership.

Karen is certified as a Facilitator of Open Space Technologies and is a member of the Agile Open Northern California conference organizing team.
