We will have the following training. There is a separate registration line for each different training here. The lunch hour will be spent discussing experiences we have had and gleaning wisdom from one another. I'll be ordering in pizza. Please donate to the pizza fund! January 12: Spiritual Self Care and Secondary Trauma - led by Deb Nondorf

As a Spiritual Director, Deb has a experience with many U.S. micro-cultures having lived in California, Virginia, Indiana, Idaho, Michigan, Ohio, and New Hampshire, before moving to Washington.  She is an alumna of the two-year Academy for Spiritual Formation, completed the Ignation Spiritual Exercises, and has worked in a variety of spiritual formation programs with both adults and youth for 20 years.  Deb’s interests include engaging in contemplative practices and exploring how these practices can enrich our lives and communities. She earned her B.A. from Eastern Washington University and her M.Ed. from Western Washington University. Deb enjoys family, friends, campfires and exploring area beaches. Deb is currently employed at SPU.

February 16: Motivational Interviewing and Incarcerated Youth - led by Margaret Soukup

NOTE: This training is 12:00-5:00 

Margaret is a King County employee with over 10 years working with the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration. She loves motivational interviewing and will be coming to teach us a more in-depth model. Some of her experience includes: counseling addicted youth at a state institution, providing mental health treatment and family therapy, and training community partners

March 16: Racial Bias and Mentoring Incarcerated Youth - led by J Mase III

J Mase III is a Black/trans/queer poet & educator based in Seattle, by way of Philly. He is the author of “If I Should Die Under the Knife, Tell my Kidney I was the Fiercest Poet Around”, as well as “And Then I Got Fired: One Transqueer’s Reflections on Grief, Unemployment, and Inappropriate Jokes about Death”. As an educator, J Mase has worked with thousands of community members in the US, the UK, and Canada on the needs of LGBTQIA youth and adults in spaces such as K-12 schools, universities, faith communities, and restricted care facilities among others.  As a performer, he has shared stages with world renowned artists like Chuck D and the Indigo Girls. His work and musings have been featured on MSNBC, NBC OUT, Essence Live, Atlanta Black Star, GO Magazine, Believe Out Loud, Everyday Feminism, Black Girl Dangerous, Upworthy, the New York Times, Buzzfeed, the Root, the Huffington Post and more.
