Do you like cooking and nutrition? Do you enjoy public speaking? Do you care about the well-being of seniors in our community? Then consider attending this Train the Trainer for an exciting interactive presentation for seniors called "Eating Well is a SNAP!".
Too many of our seniors struggle with being able to afford a healthy and balanced diet. The Senior Hunger Action Team of the Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions has developed an interactive presentation for low-income seniors geared to helping them eat well on a limited budget with a focus on how the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can help them purchase healthy items to supplement their diet. The presentation includes information about foods to eat to have a balanced diet, how to purchase healthy foods more economically, and the variety of resources, including SNAP, that seniors can use to supplement their diet.
The Senior Hunger Action Team would like to give this presentation at as many senior living centers and other locations where low-income seniors gather as possible. To facilitate this we are developing a pool of trained presenters, a speaker's bureau, who can utilize the developed curriculum and materials to conduct this interactive presentation for low-income seniors.
If you are interested in learning how to give this presentation, please join us for this Train the Trainer, conducted by Kyra Effren, a renowned chef who helped develop the presentation. At the Train the Trainer we will explain how the speaker's bureau will work so you can decide if you would like to join it.
