Participants will perform a scenic hike at Thatcher Park. Thacher State Park is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds and ball fields. There will be multiple trails for all participants, where they will connect to Paint Mine shelter, which you will find food, drinks and fun for the whole family. And of course, you will never forget the breath-taking views. Those wanting to take in the views but don't want to hike are definitely welcome to join in the fun.
This year we will be having a Optional Trail run starting at 1130am along with an Optional Trail hike also starting at 1130am. Each group will be led by a Trail Leader from OrangeTheory. We will then have a 1/2 hour yoga session instructed by New York Power Yoga.
We will also be having a Chinese auction and raffle tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event.
The mission of the non-profit, Trails2Prevention Foundation is to raise awareness about the dangers associated with the use of prescription and other gateway drugs through hosting an annual family day hike along with other activities. The capital raised goes to funding specific, targeted prevention education events throughout the year in different school systems to strive to foster a sense of community and to encourage communication between parents and teens as critical tools against drug abuse.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and help in fighting for the kids and families struggling to break free of this horrible addiction. We hope you are able to join us in this family fun filled day. If you have any questions regarding this charity hike, please don’t hesitate to contact Christy Field at Christy.Field@prospectmtg.com
