Event description

Description

The Center for Retail Leadership and artist Demetrius Mensah have teamed up to bring a new Pop-Up Exhibit to Portland State University’s School of Business.

Join the CRL and artist Demetrius Mensah for an evening of celebration and inspiration, as we highlight the journeys of various black pioneers and innovators. Come participate in a panel discussion about creativity and innovation in the black community, checkout the exhibit, socialize with friends, and get inspired. Refreshments will be provided

“Traditionally Unconventional | GRAIN” showcases inspiring stories of black pioneers and innovators, past and present. This exhibit highlights remarkable individuals who went against the grain with actions that have collectively influenced millions.Demetrius hopes that by sharing stories of people who saw opportunity in an otherwise unopportunistic environment, visitors will be challenged to open their mind, see things in a new light, and walk away with a different understanding of innovation.

“My aim is to inspire others to seek opportunity and find unique ways to pursue their full potential; by challenging the status quo, leaving the comfort zone and taking a risk- regardless of their circumstances. You don’t have to be great to start, you just have to start to be great.”
