Event description

Description

Learning good solid techniques in flameworking is much like learning a musical instrument. Once skills become internalized and natural, the mind is set free of concerns, and the artist can use their skills to create new visions and forge new directions.

The focus of this workshop is to learn and refine technique and thought processes to improve glass flameworking skills. Students will use this class as research into the scientific glass industry, and to learn the basic methodology and skill set. Foundations include bends, side seals, wrapping coils, flaring tubing free hand and using rollers, pulling points and blowing ring seals. Fixturing coils and internal assemblies inside tubing and blown sculptural vessels will be practiced. Dennis will demonstrate standard tapers and other fittings.

The best flameworked art is yet to be made, come and start here!
