Event description

Description

Do not miss this special opportunity to learn traditional basket weaving techniques from four generations of master weavers. Julia Parker is a master basket maker of the Coast Miwok and Kashaya Pomo tribes. Together with her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter, Julia Parker will lead an intimate workshop demonstrating techniques and sharing traditional wisdom. As Julia Parker says “Teaching students to weave is not only sharing a sacred skill, but also connecting them in a magical way to history and the environment. Basket weavers also learn great respect for the materials they use, for it is the fiber and not the weaver that makes beautiful baskets.” All materials and Sunday lunch included, and you will take home your own beautiful handmade basket.

Saturday 1:30- 5:30pm

Sunday 10:00- 4:00pm

September 15-16; age 16+

Cost:$275.00 includes all materials and lunch on Sunday
