Event description

Description

Dake ZHU’s lecture explores the dialectic between what is desirable and what is undesirable in China’s cultural heritage through the prism of modernity. Topics include the genesis of what is known as traditional Chinese culture, the dynamics between its uniqueness and common values of humanity, the good and the bad in its offering, the challenges in showcasing cultural Chineseness to the wider world and the yonder shores of the quest to disseminate cultural essence.

Prof. Zhu is one of the most eminent scholars and critics on matters of cultural importance in China. An insightful commentator with a razor-sharp mind and an inimitable brand of parlance that is named after him. And a staunch guardian of Chinese culture. He is also an accomplished writer and poet.

The lecture will be delivered in Chinese.

Free, but advanced registration is requested.
