For decades, the primary methods of reaching customers included direct mail and print, radio and TV ads. Today, social media plays a much larger role in marketing. But both still have their place and can yield tremendous value for a small business.

Every business is different. For example, one company's customers may be best reached on Facebook and Etsy, while another company may do better by relying on magazine ads.
