About this event
Join us for this unique opportunity! Traces of the Trade is a journey by Katrina Browne, the filmmaker, and nine of her cousins into the dark past of the slave trade which enriched their white New England family.
The descendants of the DeWolf family of Rhode Island, one of the largest slave trading families in American history, retrace their families involvement in the Triangle Trade from New England to Ghana and back to America.
The documentary won the Henry Hampton Award for Excellence in Film and was nominated for an Emmy Award for historical research. It was chosen from 953 submissions to be shown at the Sundance Film Festival.
We are honored to welcome Dain Perry, one of the nine cousins featured in the film, and his wife Constance who will facilitate a community conversation on race, reconciliation and healing. The film and the conversation explore the legacy of slavery that continues to negatively impact the country.
