The Toyota - RIT Applied Math Initiative (formerly Summer Math Institute) is hosted by the School of Mathematical Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The Toyota - RIT Applied Math Initiative, or TAMI, is pleased to invite high school math teachers, at no cost, to join industry and university professionals for four days of presentations and networking.
Monday June 30, 2014, 8am - 4pm
Tuesday July 1, 2014, 8am - 4pm
Wednesday July 2, 2014, 8am - 4pm
Thursday July 3, 2014, 8am - 4pm
The TAMI presentations are held from Monday June 30 through Thursday July 3, 2014 on the beautiful RIT campus. Presentations begin at 8:15am and end at 4:00pm each day. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily at no cost to registered participants, thank to our sponsor Toyota Corporation. The workshops are limited to fifty registered participants.
The TAMI presentations provide high school mathematics teachers answers to these questions: What math should high school graduates know to succeed in college? What math should college graduates know to succeed professionally? How can high school teachers help their students better learn this math?
The TAMI presentations feature four types of sessions:
- Experienced professionals speaking on mathematics in their professions
- Recent graduates or co-op students speaking of their experiences as math professionals
- College professors discussing the mathematical foundations of curricula in their fields
- Panels and other discussions of educational, cultural, and technical issues
