Townville Strong Training Featuring Big Rig Rescue
Fri, Mar 24, 2017, 6:00 PM – Sun, Mar 26, 2017, 5:00 PM EDT
After the tragic events that happened at Townville Elementary in September, Townville residents Dwayne and Traci Johnson helped organize and promote a training day to give back to the many first responders that assisted the Townville Fire Department and Fork Rescue Squad that day. The extrication training with emphasis on hybrid vehicles was a success, and lead by Aaron Dix of the Greenville Hospital System. After the training, several participants saw the opportunity for a large scale training exercise to be held in the area annually. From this the "Townville Strong Training" idea was born. Agencies spearheading and developing this event include the Townville FD, Fork Rescue Squad, Homeland Park FD, Belton FD, and Oconee County Emergency Services. Our first training opportunity will be held the weekend of March 24-26, 2017, and will feature the class "Big Rig Rescue". This will be considered an advanced extrication class, and geared to those seasoned veterans that have prior extrication knowledge and experience. We are hoping to additionally provide a smaller passenger vehicle extrication class to others that have not completed basic auto extrication. We are looking forward to this beginning of what we hope will become a successful, annual event! Please like and share!!!
Please note: There is an initial limit of 4 registrations per department. We will take registrations on a first come, first serve (paid) basis. If the Big Rig Class fills, we will contact you and ask if you would like to participate in the single day extrication class. We will also post when the class has reached capacity.
