Towards the UN Environment Assembly: Combating Global Pollution
Thu, February 9, 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM EST
The UN Environment’s North America Office is pleased to invite you to a half-day event addressing actions being taken to combat pollution at the national, state and local levels, as well as the impact of various types of pollution on human health and the environment.
Annually, an estimated 8million deaths result from exposure to polluted air, soil and water. The third session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-3) will convene environmental leaders in Nairobi, Kenya in December 2017 to address this global pollution threat.
Towards the UN Environment Assembly: Combating Global Pollution will feature a keynote address from the Deputy Executive Director of the UN Environment, Ibrahim Thiaw, as well as two panels composed of distinguished representatives of government, civil society and the private sector, who will address the issue of pollution from a national and international perspective.
The event will conclude with the election of a North American Regional Major Groups and Stakeholders Representative, who will share the civil society perspective at UNEA-3. For more information on becoming a Regional Representative, please click here.
