How to make tours make money

Go over every tip and trick in the book with the road warriors who know how to win on the road.

Founder of Fast Paced Management and Artists Music Label, Patrick Whalen has been on over 100 tours, from DEVO to Prince, and developed, toured and worked with stadium and arena-level acts like Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots, Match Box 20, REM, Cheap Trick, Quiet Riot, Ted Nugent among others. “I have been in this business for 25 years and I really enjoy working with talented performers with high expectations.” In ‘91 Whalen brainstormed Backstage Productions which became a major force providing sound and lighting for 100s of events each year. Seven years later, Whalen opened a Backstage Vegas office, ramping up production to over 500 shows annually.

Gabriella Pulley is a native of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. In the summer of 2015 she began her career with Sony Music Entertainment, working with the RCA Records Marketing & Touring and Logistics team as an intern in New York City. Upon the completion of her internship, she moved to New York City and began working full-time at RCA in their Touring & Logistics department, where she worked with artists such as Alicia Keys, Gavin Degraw, Jimmy Eat World, Khalid, Martin Garrix, and many more. While at RCA she was also a ‘stache Lifestyle Rep for RED Distribution (a division of Sony Music Entertainment), while simultaneously finishing her master’s degree at Johnson & Wales University.

After leaving RCA Records, Gabriella went on to work for Right Hand Music as Day to Day Manager and Tour Manager for Grammy-nominated artist, Khalid. In her role, she assisted the head manager on all managerial tasks to provide direct support to Khalid during two tours, prepared personal and professional schedules for events, award shows, domestic and international tours, and off-site video shoots. She also restructured and expanded the artist’s team through hiring and implementing new organizational systems while managing multiple event budgets, including working with business managers to pay vendors

Scott Velasquez has an extensive background in music, starting in A&R at 18 years old, at a brand-new label founded by Steve Rifkind, via Universal-Motown. He was a member of the team that helped produce Grammy award winning albums “Tha Carter III” (Lil’ Wayne”), “Tha Carter IV” (Lil’ Wayne), and Chamillionaire’s “Ridin’” He signed and co-wrote SoMo’s “Ride”. Scott owns his own Artist Development/Management company, Rukus Management, dedicated to developing indie and breaking artists. With a background in Music Supervision as well, he has worked on James Franco’s movie, “Actor’s Anonymous”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “How To Get Away With Murder”, “Scandal”, The Hunger Games franchise and others. He is classically trained as a vocalist and graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Vocal Performance: Jazz Studies and Media Marketing from the University of North Texas. He then did his Graduate work at Berklee College of Music, specializing in Music Business and Music Supervision.
