Tue, March 21, 2017, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM EDT
AWARD-WINNING SOMMELIER JEAN-LUC LE DU INVITES OUT PROFESSIONALS ON A TASTINGS TOUR OF SPAIN’S WINE REGIONS.
On Tuesday, March 21, Out Professionals welcomes Members and friends to Le Du’s Wines, the West Village wine shop rated Number One in New York City by Zagat.
At this month’s edition of the Out Professionals Wine Club, the shop’s founder, James Beard Award-winning sommelier Jean-Luc Le Du, takes members and guests on a tour of the wine regions of Spain.
The journey begins with a welcoming glass of a refined sparkling wine, the pale yellow-gold L’Hereu Raventos I Blanc Conca Del Riu Anoia 2014, a must-try for Champagne lovers.
Commentary then accompanies generous tastings of six other distinctive Spanish wines, each showcasing the unique qualities of a particular wine region — from Rias Baixas in the northwest to La Rioja, Spain’s Tuscany, in the northeast; from Catalonia, home of some of Spain’s costliest vintages, to Jerez, birthplace of Sherry.
- Do Ferreiro Albarino Rias Baixas 2014, a great, mineral-driven white
- Tentenublo Xerico Rioja 2015, famed for its brightness
- Lopez Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva 2004, thoughtfully aged
- Dido La Universal Montsant 2014, costly and iconic
- Tinto Pesquera Ribera Del Duero 2014, dark and brooding
- Emilio Lustau Fino En Rama, a notable Sherry
Each wine is paired with cheese and charcuterie from Murray’s Cheese Shop, a Village favorite for 75 years.
Out Professionals’ Wine Club is designed to appeal to all wine lovers – from the adventurous newcomer to the dedicated oenophile. The evening offers ample time for relaxed networking with other Out Professionals Members and guests.
