Since being founded in 1998, Honest Tea has incorporated numerous aspects of sustainability and social responsibility into their business model, addressing issues ranging from sustainable product sourcing to progressive packaging to social outreach efforts scaling from planting trees to cancer research. Meanwhile, the company's annual profits have continued to grow dramatically each year, from $250,000 in 1999 to well over $70 million by 2010. Honest Tea has been ranked as one of the top 8 Revolutionary Socially Responsible Companies by the The Huffington Post, one of PlanetGreen.com's Top 7 Green Corporations, and one of the Top Five companies of the year according to The Washington Post. We will be going on an exclusive tour of the Honest Tea facility, learning about their business model and what they do to promote sustainability. Afterwards, we will visit another business in the area that also incorporates sustainability into their mission statement.
