If you love Festivals Acadiens et Créoles as much as we do then you will love the Tour des Atakapas race! Celebrating our Cajun & Creole heritage is important to maintaining our culture in south Louisiana. The run is a joint coordinated project between TRAIL and Fesival Acadiens et Creoles. The run starts next to Girard Park and runs to Beaver Park & Vermilionville. The 3 and 5 mile runs are 100% road. The7 mile course will have roughly 1 mile of trail running along the Vermilion river. Post race party is in Girard Park with Festivals Acadiens et Créoles
Tour des Atakapas is now the race #1 of 3 in the Courir des Cadiens race series. Runners completing all three races will recieve the massive medal shown below. Race #2 is the Cajun Country Run (December 10th) then the series completes on March 12, 2017 at the 4th annual Zydeco Marathon & Half.
When: Saturday, Oct. 15th, 2016
Where: Start/Finish line & day of registration/check in at Geaux Run (906 Harding St. Lafayette, LA 337-706-8763).
Where:Post run party at Pavillion in Girard Park (start and finish) with Festivals Acadiens et Créoles
Time: Packet pickup begins at 7:00am Race beings at 8:30am
Route options: 3 mi, 5 mi, & 7 miles
Price: On site registration only- Friday @ Geaux Run from 10a - 6p then on Saturday at the pavilion in Girard Park next to the basket ball courts (Audubon & Girard Park Dr.) from 6:30a - 8:00a.
SWAG: items include $17 gift certificate to the official Festivals Acadiens et Creoles merchandise tent and all finishers will recieve a locally made metallic fiddle and bottle opener.
WHY: Proceeds will be used by TRAIL and Festivals Acadiens et Créoles to invest in Acadiana area parks and recreational facilities.
