This 8-hour Continuing Education class is open to all licensed practitioners of Manual/Massage Therapy.
Manual treatment of nerves is profoundly under-taught in massage and physical therapy schools. Given a compelling body of evidence suggesting that irritated nerves contribute to pain and movement limitation, nerve palpation has become an essential skill for any treatment-oriented bodyworker.
In practice, we constantly encounter nerve-related conditions, such as:
- Neural Tension & Entrapment
- Chronic Spinal Pain
- Fibrocontractile Disorders
- Surgical Adhesions & Hardware
- Cervicogenic Headache
In this class, you will learn to “think like a nerve”, and enliven your existing techniques with a neurofascial paradigm.
INFO AND SKILLS COVERED
— Learn the anatomy, mechanics, and physiologic behavior of nerve tissue.
— Perform basic assessment of neural tension.
— Locate several major nerves (both deep and superficial) in relation to fascial planes.
— Treat entrapped and inflamed nerves using both direct and indirect fascial techniques.
