Touch Grass Day-Tripper: Wild Creatives (November 15th)
Overview
Explore, create, and connect in nature's boundless playground. Our curated day events are designed to immerse you in the beauty of nature while igniting your creative spark.
Join us for a gentle, grounding afternoon of walking, sharing, and making as we tune into the quiet wisdom of the trees preparing for winter.
In the first phase of our time together, we’ll walk slowly through the landscape, observing how the trees are beginning to shift into dormancy. We’ll pause along the way to reflect on the trails left by fallen leaves and humans — subtle signs of transition and letting go. Yaya will guide us with insights into how trees adapt to the cold months ahead and how they remain in dialogue with their surroundings through winter.
This walk is a space for shared observation and quiet connection. Participants are warmly invited to share their own stories, memories, or facts about trees, and to co-create poetry or reflections along the path. This part of the afternoon will last around an hour, with time built in for pauses and rest. Please wear layers as we'll be outside for this part.
In the second phase, we’ll settle into stillness together for a creative session with clay. Here, we’ll explore themes of offering, composting, and post-harvest reflection — making altars, small sculptures, or symbolic objects that help us ask: What are we keeping as sustenance for winter? What are we returning to the soil to rest and transform?
This part of the gathering will also be around an hour, with space for experimentation and slowness. We will be indoors for this section.
✨ No experience with art or nature connection needed — just bring your curiosity, openness, and willingness to be in community.
This workshop is facilitated by Yaya, with support from Tori. Yaya is a visual artist, care-worker, activist and creative activity facilitator, whose work drifts through outdoor spaces, honouring disabled rhythms, queer ecologies, and sounding ancestral echoes into rituals of arts, healing and liberation.

About Touch Grass
Touch Grass is an outdoor community for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour.
We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused trips that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experiences go beyond relaxation—it's about empowerment, wellness, and forging meaningful connections.
Our vision is for queer people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A Natural England study found that White people are 70% more likely than Black and Asian people to spend time in the countryside. We want to change this. We deserve to reap the benefits of improved emotional well-being and physical health too.
We believe creativity and nature go hand in hand, which is why most of our events encourage you to embrace nature and your inner creative spirit.
