Event description

Description

3D printing technology allows us to turn digital 3D models into physical objects. Our Lulzbot Taz 6 printer is a user friedly machine capable of printing objects within its 11"x11"x9.8" build limit. Our members have used our printer to create everything from artistic models to mechanical machine parts. This 2 hour class will teach users how to prepare models in Cura, and run successful prints on the Taz 6. We will cover common techniques used when preparing models, how various settings effect the printing process, filament loading and unloading, proper safety measures, and how to navigate some of the Taz 6's controls. This class will certify you to use the Taz 6 in our space. We also have a smaller legacy Falshforge Creator printer available. The Flashforge requires an additional certification by appointment only. Contact the instructor for more info.

This tool is available for family use! Any youth between the ages of 12-17 may take this class with a participating adult. Learn more at Technocopia.org!

All non-member students please fill out this one-time registration form prior to attending a class. Review our class cancellations and refund policy here.

About the Instructor

Adam Zelny is a multimedia designer and educator in the fields of 2D and 3D CAD, digital fabrication, audio and video production, music, and design oriented art. As a part of Technocopia's administration team, he has helped build the education platform for tool training and workshop programs, and actively teaches classes for laser cutter and 3D printer workflows. His role as an educator involves incorporating art into STEM oriented classes, crafting professional development workshops for fellow teachers, and using digital fab tools to learn and make useful things that look good. As a former board member, Adam played a role in relocating and expanding Technocopia's facility and programs, and continues to volunteer his time to growing the makerspace. Adam thinks that sci-fi is a great genre, and enjoys the occasionally good video game.
