Event description

Description

Greetings Silurians !

Tony Schwartz is probably best known for his co-author, the man who believed he perfected The Art of the Deal. He describes the process of writing the definitive Trump book as “putting lipstick on a pig.” Now he’s ready to tell all. How it all worked, and how much it cost …. But above all, the temptation that so often accompanies all of our most difficult choices.

Because Tony Schwartz is an honorable man. With an extraordinary career—before and after Donald Trump. And he’s never pulled any punches—a trait that’s deep in his DNA, from a mother, Felice, originator of the term “mommy track.”

Tony’s our guest for lunch on February 20. Of course, he’s had an entire, extraordinary career, before and after Donald Trump: Founder of The Energy Project, reporter and columnist for two New York papers (the Post and The Times) and three magazines (Newsweek, New York Magazine, and Esquire). But it’s his books that have won him perhaps his greatest renown. “Risking Failure: Surviving Success,” with Disney’s Michael Eisner and “The Way We're Working Isn't Working: Fueling the Four Needs that Energize Great Performance” probably ought to be required reading for his first, most celebrated co-author. Certainly, Tony will be happy to talk about all of this.

But it’s the story behind the Art of the Deal that he’s unveiling for us in February!

To make sure no one is disappointed, I importune you to register early !

The date: Wednesday, February 20, 2019

The time: Noon

The place: National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South

Remember: We are now using Eventbrite to handle our luncheon reservations. Michael Serrill, our 1st vice-president, is no longer accepting email reservations. There is no charge to use this service unless you choose to pay in advance for your ticket with a credit card

You will then receive an email confirmation.

You can still reserve by calling the Silurians' reservation line at 212-532-0887. Please spell your name clearly and include a contact number or e-mail. Lunch prices are $55 for members, $65 for guests, payable at the door by cash (exact change, please), check or credit card. And if you’re bringing a guest, make sure to give the guest’s name. Each member can bring one guest, with additional guests put on waiting lists. We will try to seat everyone!

One other, important reminder. Because we must give a final tally to our hosts at the National Arts Club at noon on the Monday of the luncheon, we can accept no cancellations after that moment. And any no-shows will be asked to pay for their seat…which we will have paid for!
