Description

Alliance in Mentorship and MiMentor.org are proud to announce "Together We Lead: Social Determinants of Health" will be held October 28th, 2017 at CSU,Fresno. The goal of Together We Lead (TWL) is to use mentorship as an avenue to create social change through leadership development. TWL creates awareness around issues related to students of color in the medical field, and provides them a platform to develop action oriented solutions. This TWL will address the critical issues centralized in the Central Valley regarding social determinants of health and its impact on the well being of underserved communitites. This event is open to pre-health students and the community.

Objectives:

  1. To understand various definitions relating to social determinants of health and examine their impact on our community health at a local and state level.

  2. To learn how to engage in and listen to communities affected by inequities.

  3. Diligently establish and enhance the network models to activate leaders to provide acute awareness of social determinants of health in medicine.

  4. Establish acceptable intervention methods and policies to help diminish the inequities in local communities.

Dr. Tania L. Pacheco-Werner will be leading this event, she will be the facilitator.
