Most resumes are lists of job responsibilities. They do need to say something about this, but largely, today's resume is results-focused. This is easy in theory to grasp. But in practice, it's a different story. This talk will give you a way to develop effective bullet points.

THIS WEEK'S GUEST: RUTH STERNBERG

I began my career as a print journalist, working in the field for 20 years, then pivoted to grant writing for a variety of nonprofit clients. I have written thousands of words that have raised community awareness, brought in dollars, and convinced hiring managers to speak to a must-see candidate. Here’s what I’ve learned: You must know what employers need to hear, and then match your story to theirs, so you can get that interview and that job offer!

I became a career professional because I saw how powerful this work is. There is nothing more important than being able to make a living. In my own career, I have employed many strategies, including cold-calling hiring managers (to win my first post-college job), making inside connections (to beat out candidates who did not bother), and explaining how my value could help the employer (to impress the panel with my knowledge). I know that not everyone has the energy develop a resume, a LinkedIn profile, and a search strategy. Many people are stuck in their career direction. That’s why I am here.

I have developed my own coaching methodology for career clarification and job search that has helped my clients time win positions.
