Opening Session	Livable Communities for an Aging Population
Guest Speaker:	Jennifer Wallace-Brodeur
		AARP, Assistant State Director
By 2030, twenty-five percent of Vermont’s population will be 65 or older.
The effects of this demographic sea change will play out in our communities as
local officials work to meet the needs of older residents. And with the aging
population comes new attitudes about work, retirement and what defines a good
quality of life. As local officials, what can you do now to address issues such as
the aging municipal workforce, affordable housing, transportation options for
those who cannot drive, and community design that fosters an active civic and
social life?
