This portion of the class on October 7th consists of individual 30-minute career consultations. During these consultations, Toby will review your resume and help you match your career goals with opportunities in industry. Pre-registration is required to attend a session.

Toby will provide individual 30-minute career consultations for registered individuals. This is an informal discussion about your career goals, a resume review and an analysis of the results of a self assessment test. Be sure to bring a copy of your resume. Sign up early, as it will surely sell out quickly.

Biography

Toby Freedman is a biotechnology recruiter and career development expert. She is president of Synapsis Search, which is focused on R&D and business recruiting for small and emerging life science companies.

Toby is the author of Career Opportunities in Biotechnology and Drug Development (www.careersbiotech.com), published by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. Her book provides an in-depth and comprehensive overview of the many careers in the life sciences industry and covers over 100 different careers, ranging from venture capital to marketing and discovery research.

Toby previously worked as a recruiter at BioQuest, an executive retained search firm, and before that as Director of Business Development at SLIL Biomedical, a startup drug discovery company. She earned a Ph.D. in biology/molecular biology from UNC Chapel Hill and as an NIH Fellow, conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University and at the University of Texas-Austin. Toby is the Program Chair at the BioScience Forum, a non-profit educational forum serving the San Francisco biotechnology community.
