Event Details

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Tech Networks of Boston ( also known as "TNB") hosts Roundtable sessions every other Friday afternoon; these are informal discussions on a wide range of topics of interest to TNB's staff, nonprofit clients, and friends.

We hope that you will join us on June 20th, when the topic will be "Managing Your Organization's Online Identity: The Giving Common, a Tool to Help Manage Your Story, Accept Donations, and Enhance Philanthropy."  Our featured guests will be Katherine Westlund Scott and Leigh Handschuh of the Boston Foundation.

Here's what Leigh and Katherine say about the topic:

"The Giving Common, an initiative of the Boston Foundation, allows nonprofit organizations to tell their story in their own words, in an organized and detailed way.  Visitors to the site can search by issue area, geography and other variables with the option to “donate now” with their credit card or through a Boston Foundation Donor Advised Fund.  The site also shares information across many national online platforms allowing you to write your nonprofit’s story in one place to save you time, promote consistency across your brand and enhance your organization’s online presence."

Here's a little bit about our featured guests:

Katherine Westlund Scott, Manager, Nonprofit Effectiveness, at the Boston Foundation, manages the Giving Common, supports nonprofits across Nonprofit Effectiveness work, and other work across the Foundation. Prior to her role at the Boston Foundation, Katherine was the Manager of the Organizational Success Program at the San Diego Foundation, where she managed a similar online platform and other nonprofit effectiveness work. She holds a BA from Wittenberg University and an MA and MPA from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management.

Leigh Handschuh, Program Associate, Nonprofit Effectiveness, at the Boston Foundation, provides strategic support to the Giving Common initiative, collaborating with a pipeline of over 850 nonprofit organizations statewide. Prior to joining the Boston Foundation, Leigh was a Data Analyst at a local, mid-size biotechnology company. During her transition to the public sector, Leigh worked as a Graduate Fellow at the Moakley Center for Public Management at Suffolk’s Institute for Public Service, where she convened public forums and provided program evaluation support to a nonprofit in Roxbury.  She holds a BA in Biology from Regis College and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Suffolk University Sawyer Business School.

Please note that the session will not be a sales pitch for any product or service, except insofar as the Boston Foundation and Tech Networks of Boston would like nonprofit professionals to take advantage of the Giving Common as a free resource. The TNB Roundtable series is an educational opportunity for nonprofit professionals to learn along with their peers from other organizations.

We hope that you can join us for a lively conversation! Please respond to this invitation, to let us know whether you'll be attending. We are running a very popular series in a very small conference room, so a definite YES or NO is real help to us.

Best regards from Deborah
