TMS Tasmania presents: an rTMS training and credentialling weekend course.

About this event

The TMS Tasmania weekend course provides theoretical and practical instruction on the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in psychiatry. It has been developed by pioneers in the field, drawing on decades of experience. The course will prepare clinicians to confidently prescribe and administer rTMS.

Delivering approximately 6 hours of tuition per day, the course is aimed at psychiatrists, and satisfies RANZCP rTMS credentialling requirements. It may also be of interest to nurses, other healthcare professionals, and researchers.

The course takes place in-person in beautiful Hobart, Tasmania. On the first day, participants learn the theoretical basis of rTMS - including history, physiology, the development of current protocols, and ongoing research. On the second day, focus will turn to the practical aspects of rTMS treatment with guidance from the facilitators. Competence is demonstrated at the end of the weekend using a multiple-choice written examination, and observation of clinical skills. Lunch is included each day.

TMS Tasmania is made up of psychiatrists Professor Saxby Pridmore, Dr Marzena Rybak and Dr Yvonne Turnier-Shea. This team has been working in rTMS since the mid-1990s, and has published an extensive body of research. They are responsible for bringing the first TMS machine to Australia, and also established the first private TMS service in the world. They are supported by experienced TMS nursing staff who will assist in facilitation of the course.

Important notes: Eventbrite fees will be deducted from any refund. Refund requests within 30 days of the course will only be granted following presentation of a medical certificate. Should there be fewer than five participants, the course may not go ahead - a full refund (including Eventbrite fees) will be provided in this instance.
