Overview

This is the second TLC core course. Please note that Children of Trauma is a prerequisite to this trainingExperience the evidence based, structured sensory interventions that are presented in Children of Trauma. Hands on activities will provide participants with practice using TLC Structured Sensory Interventions for Traumatized Children, Adolescents and Parents (SITCAP). Case studies will be shared to teach you how to apply mind body skills while focusing on the primary themes of trauma including safety, worry, hurt, fear, anger, revenge and moving from victim to survivor thinking.

Those attending this course as a part of the Certification program will receive a Tools to Help the Helper DVD. This course is a requirement for Level-1 Certification and a pre-requisite for Level-2 and Level-3 Certification. You do not need to be enrolled in the Certification Program to attend this course.

Session Objectives
Review and practice interventions to ameliorate survivor reactions, post-traumatic stress and grief reactions in children following violent and non-violent traumatic losses.

Learning Objectives
- Discuss the importance of becoming a witness as a way to help trauma victims heal.
- Demonstrate how to provide trauma specific structured sensory interventions with children/adolescents traumatized by violent or non-violent, yet traumatic incidents.
