Event description
Celebrate the opening of scallop season with a special “meet the fleet” scallop tasting event on Portland's working waterfront.

About this Event

'Tis the Scallop Season

The season is almost upon us - Scallop season that is. Starting in early December, Maine’s day boat scallop fleet will be landing delicious, fresh Atlantic Sea Scallops all along our working waterfronts. Known for their sweetness and firm texture, Maine’s wild caught scallops are not only a delicacy, but also an example of a sustainable, well managed fishery.

Come celebrate the opening of scallop season with the Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association and Luke’s Lobster for a special “meet the fleet” scallop tasting. This event will bring fishermen, chefs and community together on Portland’s working waterfront to mingle, learn and eat!

The evenings activities include:

  • A variety of scallop apps and bites prepared by Luke’s chef
  • Local fishermen and their vessels as well as footage of scallop fishing
  • Brief discussion on the importance of this fishery to Maine, our working waterfront and the future of Maine’s scallop fishing grounds
  • Culinary take home tips and recipes from the talented chef at Luke’s Lobster Portland Pier
  • Cash bar

This event highlights boat to table providing guests a unique insight into Maine’s fishing industry, working waterfront and its importance to our coastal communities.

When you know your fisherman, you support fishing families and coastal communities, enhance the sustainability of Maine’s fisheries, and access the freshest, local seafood.

Space is extremely limited, and we expect to sell out fast. Get your ticket today!

--------------

A portion of your ticket will be donated to the Maine Coast Fishermen’s Association. Please consider making an additional fully tax-deductible donation during your check-out process. We couldn’t do what we do without support from those who love our coastal communities as much as we do.

For the first time in almost two decades scallops are rebuilding in the Gulf of Maine; which offers a tremendous opportunity for Maine’s fleet. The Fishermen’s Association is working with Northern Gulf of Maine scallop fishermen to build a sustainable fishery and ensure Maine fishermen have access and protection from the offshore fleets and interest from away. We must work together to build the resource and protect access to this fishery for this and future generations.
