What is Trauma informed practice and teaching assistance (TIPTA)?

Trauma informed practice is a strengths-based approach grounded in an understanding of, and a responsiveness to the impact of trauma that emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors.

TIPTA training is delivered to internal and external T2S staff by the Statewide Team. It discusses trauma and how it specifically impacts young people in T2S. TIPTA training is vital to ensure that young people engaging in T2S are supported appropriately and are not re-traumatised or managed in the same ways that have been ineffective in mainstream education environments.
