Kids use real tools and real materials to build and create. Adults serve as collaborators rather than teachers for maximum engagement, enthusiasm, and enjoyment. We like to keep our building projects secret for maximum excitement, but rest assured we will have free-building time, plenty of time to get to know and feel comfortable with all the tools, some smaller building projects and challenges, and at least one truly epic large scale building project.

When & Where
Kami runs Austin Tinkering School. After running a preschool as well as teaching art, science, nature, and carpentry classes, she saw Gever Tulley’s TED talk, 5 Dangerous Things (you should let your children do) and realized that Austin needed a tinkering school, stat. Gever Tulley came to visit Austin and he agreed. Now she, also, has had the pleasure of putting power tools in the hands of second graders, and has loved every minute of it.
