Event description

Description

Medicine grows everywhere around us. Many medicinally functional plants—useful for physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing—grow all around us.

In this class we will meet first at Hungry Turtle Farm to identify some local, common, and abundant plant remedies and discuss some of their medicinal and functional uses. We will also gather enough plant material on the farm to bring back to Farm Table in Amery in order to make tinctures that students can bring home. We will have time to taste and discuss a variety of tincture preparations and also delve deeper into preparation methods, approaches to use and dosage, efficacy, and how to choose what will work best.

If you have taken the basic tincture making class, this class will build upon what you have already learned. The class is appropriate for/accessible to beginners!

Recognizing and valuing the variety of plant life around us, through knowledge of the ways that humans have traditionally—over thousands of years—kept themselves healthy, helps close an unhealthy gap between us and the rest of that life. Healing often begins with this initial connection: to tradition, to nature, and through relating to plants as individuals. Healing is further enhanced physiologically through ingestion or topical application of various tinctures.

Herbal Medicine is a wide field with as many styles and approaches as there are practitioners. If you are interested in learning how to make use of some plants in a hands-on, experiential, and relational way, please join!
