Binghamton Live Songwriters Series presents

Number 1 hit song writer Tina Shafer of New York Songwriter Circle (NYSC) brings together three close friends to perform in the round with her: Lizanne Knott, Jennifer Harper and Jenny Bruce. Binghamton Live Director john Kanazawich will be providing the Knabe grand piano for this wonderful night of music.

Tina Shafer is a singer-songwriter and vocal coach who has penned songs for such artists as Celine Dion, Sheena Easton, Phoebe Snow, Billy Porter, and Anna Vissi. Her song "Love is On the Way" was the center piece song in Bette Midler's film The First Wives Club. She has opened for Suzanne Vega, and performed with John Oates, March Cohn, Phoebe Snow, Jesse Harris, Vanessa Carlton, and Eric Bazilian from "The Hooters".

She is the co-founder of The New York Songwriters Circle, one of the most established and long-running showcases in the country, dating from 1991. The Songwriters Circle has been the platform for artists including Grammy-winner Jesse Harris, Norah Jones, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Big and Rich, John Oates, Marc Cohn, Gavin DeGraw, and Phoebe Snow. It has its showcases monthly at The Bitter End in New York City. Most recently, Ms. Shafer appeared not as a performer but as a guest blogger for American Songwriter. Tina Shafer was recently picked by ABC News host Sandy Kenyon as a top mentor to young talent, both as a performer and vocal coach.

Jennifer Harper: All the Love is Harper’s second studio project. Harper’s voice shines alongside some all-star contributors, which includes producer and drummer Tal Bergman (Billy Idol, Simple Minds, Rod Stewart), pianist Haim Cotton (Danny Lerman, Ofra Haza, Lipstick Jungle), guitarist Dean Parks (Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Michael Jackson) and bassists Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones, Miles Davis, Sting) and Bob Glaub (Stevie Nicks, Carole King, Jackson Browne). The addition of an 11-piece string ensemble creates a cinematic feel on the hauntingly beautiful track “Let Me In” and adds a vibrant twist to Harper’s Rolling Stones-influenced track “Little White Lies.” Harper has been performing throughout the New York City area in support of her new EP. She has performed at many popular music venues, including Rockwood Music Hall, The Cutting Room, The Fez, Stella Blues, The Acoustic and The Bitter End. In addition, Harper has been a featured guest on local radio stations, such as WHUD 100.7 FM, WXCI 91.7 FM, WPKN 89.5 FM and has performed on the popular morning show, “CT Style,” on WTNH Channel 8 in Connecticut. She has also made recent debuts at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA, World Cafe Live in Philadelphia and The Mint in L.A.

Lizanne Knott: A long standing member of the Philadelphia music scene and partner of Grammy Award Winning MorningStar Studios, Lizanne Knott has also managed to make herself a home in Nashville as well as the UK. She has been captivating audiences throughout the US and UK, garnering accolades from radio listeners and peers around the globe. A frequent featured artist on London's acclaimed Bob Harris Show, BBC2 and other BBC stations, she also receives airplay on AAA radio throughout the US. Her music has been used in independent films, TV movies, documentaries and by national non-profit organizations.

A 1999 Lilith Fair Talent Search finalist, Bruce’s song “Home” from her 2001 release, “Soul on Fire”, was included as the only track from an “unsigned” artist on a popular Martha Stewart compilation CD, featuring Allison Krauss, Barenaked Ladies, Lucinda Williams and others.
