Originally from Minneapolis and now based in California, Tina Schlieske is best known for fronting the band Tina and the B-Side Movement, now Tina and the B-Sides.

Growing up in the Midwest proved fertile territory for an inspired teenager to absorb and blend all the local musical influences of rock 'n' roll, gospel, blues, and dusty Americana. Pursuing every avenue she came across—from the glam rock of Bowie and T. Rex, the showmanship of Elvis, the soul music of Aretha to the folk and jazz stylings of singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell—Tina honed her skills, writing songs and playing every bar, club, and festival that would have her. Endless touring helped cultivate not only a dedicated following but a distinctive, blues-driven and raspingly passionate vocal style reminiscent of Janis Joplin.

After releasing several albums on her own Movement Records with the B-Sides, she signed a major record deal with Sire Records in 1996. The band released two albums for Sire, "Salvation" and "It's All Just The Same," with their music featured in national commercials and major movie soundtracks. Tina and the band shared the stage with Lenny Kravitz, The Wallflowers, Indigo Girls, and Etta James—as well as collaborating with artists like Stewart Copeland and Me'Shell Ngedeocello. Tina was even asked to play the starring role of Janis Joplin in Paramount Picture's "Piece of my Heart," a biopic about the late singer's life.

In 1999, after heavy touring and the sale of Sire Records to Elektra, the band decided to go on hiatus indefinitely. But first they commemorated their 10+ years of hard work playing two sold-out nights at the legendary First Avenue mainroom and released a double-live CD of the event, "The Last Polka."

Today, Tina lives in California with her family but continues to travel the country performing solo as well as with her bands Lola and the Red Hots and the California-based Tina Schlieske and the Graceland Exiles. She has released numerous additional albums of both original compositions and classic tributes to the music of some of her favorites artists (and in support of causes she's personally passionate about). Additionally, Tina recently wowed audiences in New York City and Minneapolis with her performances with Genital Panic, The New Standards Holiday Show, and Tina Schlieske Sings Sinatra to Simone.

Music is Tina's lifeblood and she is thrilled to perform along with her band at The Parkway Theater.

Her Crooked Heart is the new music of Rachel Ries – multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, rock & roll choir director, sideman, singer. Her Crooked Heart’s debut EP, To Gentlemen, and forthcoming album, To Love To Leave To Live, feature members of Bon Iver, co-producer Shane Leonard, and string arrangements by the inimitable Rob Moose. TLTLTL will be released June 2019.

Along with numerous and diverse collaborators through the years – including Hadestown mastermind, Anaïs Mitchell – Rachel has proven herself ever-curious to expand her sound, her scope, and sail on past the confines of ‘singer-songwriter.’ After all, sometimes what the heart wants is poetry and a syncopated horn line; a string section and a bass synth – all leaving exultation and devastation in their wake.

One thing has remained true since RR’s first homespun release: her sly and compassionate voice, excavating the depths of an all-too-human heart, armed with levity and a pen. It’s the messy humanity that’s of interest here. The trying and failing; the loving and losing and loving again.

MARY BUE & THE MONARCHY

This is a band fit for a kingdom, newly-dubbed Mary Bue & The Monarchy.

Full intensity living without a second to waste or take for granted—that is Mary Bue's mission. After moving to Minneapolis from Duluth in 2016, she has found herself with the band of her dreams, The Monarchy, and a new album in the works to share her high-intensity life philosophy, "The World Is Your Lover." Rising out of the trauma of sexual assault as referenced in her critically-acclaimed and award-winning 2017 EP, "The Majesty of Beasts," a fiery divorce from her husband and bandmate, the opening and closing of her yoga studio, and venturing out into an unknown future, Mary's new album is full of power pop, piano dream waves, and layers of shimmery 90s-influenced guitars to defy and even proudly display her battle scars. The album also features guest appearances from Low's Alan Sparhawk and Adam Levy of The Honeydogs.

The Monarchy is Jeremy Ylvisaker (The Suburbs, Andrew Bird, HALEY, Jenny Lewis, Alpha Consumer), Steve Price (The Suburbs, Rex Daisy), Richard Medek (Kevin Costner, Erik Koskinen, Molly Maher), and Peter Anderson (Alison Scott, Kevin Bowe, Polara, The Honeydogs, The Ocean Blue).
