Description

Time Travelers sets students on an adventure of exploration, investigating our local history through artifacts in the Los Alamos History Museum and with hands-on activities.


Fall Schedule

September: Homesteading Life. Get hands-on with some homesteading chores in the Romero Cabin.

October: Pueblo Lifeways. Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day, Marlon Magdalena from Jemez Historic Site will share an interactive lesson on Ancestral Pueblo life and Pueblo culture.

November: Creating a Cold War Community. Explore the current temporary exhibit in the Los Alamos History Museum and learn about what it was like to be a kid in Los Alamos in the 1950s and 1960s.

Sessions for 1st-3rd grade students meet second Wednesdays (September 11, October 9, and November 13) and 4th–6th grade students meet third Wednesdays (September 18, October 16, and November 20).


Details

  • Drop off your child at 1:15 and pick them up at 3 p.m. Please sign your child in and out.
  • Time Travelers is led by the museum educator along with a History Museum staff member or volunteer.
  • Registration is limited to 10 students, with a minimum size of 5 students.
  • If you are registering more than one child, please fill out a registration form for each child.
  • This is a pay-what-you-like program. If you would prefer not to make a donation, leave the Pay-what-you-like Registration field blank when you register. Any donation you choose to make when you register your child will help the non-profit Los Alamos Historical Society to share our local history. Thank you!
  • The program will be cancelled if there is no school because of snow or other reasons. You will receive a refund if a session is cancelled because of school closure or the minimum size is not met.
  • The Fuller Lodge Classroom is upstairs in the west wing of Fuller Lodge. There are two ways to access the classroom. Stairs: You can enter directly through the covered outdoor entrance between the main entrance to the Lodge and the entrance to the Fuller Lodge Art Center. Elevator: Enter the Lodge through the main entrance, go behind the wooden stairs and down the hallway past the kitchen to the elevator at the end of the hall. Exit the elevator and the classroom is the last door at the end of the hall (furthest from the wooden stairs).
