We are the recognized leader in creating awareness of, and commitment to, Milwaukee’s history and the preservation of its built environment. We provide this through innovative, responsive programs and strong community, corporate, and civic alliances.
Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation
WWBIC is a leading innovative statewide economic development corporation “Putting Dreams to Work.” We focus on individuals who face barriers in accessing traditional financing or resources in pursuit of their dreams and economic well-being. We provide targeted individuals interested in starting, strengthening or expanding businesses with access to vital resources and tools such as quality financial and business education and responsible financial products. We improve the economic well-being of targeted low income individuals by building assets and advancing economic self-sufficiency. We particularly focus on women, people of color, and low-income individuals, providing direct lending and access to fair and responsible capital, quality business education, one-on-one technical business assistance and education to increase financial capability.
Our mission is to protect, improve and advocate for water quality, riparian wildlife habitat, and sound land management in the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic River Watersheds.
We envision a future in which people from all walks of life can enjoy the healthy waterways of the Milwaukee River Basin. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is a licensed member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an international coalition ensuring clean water and strong communities.
Artists Working in Education
Artists Working in Education, Inc. (A.W.E.), sponsors professional artists to nurture the imaginations of Milwaukee youth by bringing creative visual arts experiences directly to schools, community centers and informal settings such as parks, playgrounds, libraries and community events.
A.W.E. artists guide children through the process of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Meaningful arts programming helps youth develop new ways of seeing the world, enhanced inquisitiveness, creativity, flexibility, imagination and confidence.

- economically, with strong companies and jobs near workers' homes;
- ecologically, with sustainable development and environmental stewardship;
- geographically, with renewed ties to surrounding neighborhoods; and
- equitably, with opportunities for all.
