Event Details

Time Out for Us: A Night of Learning, Laughter and Love is an event sponsored by Umoja Temple.   Tickets to date night cost $30.00 a couple and $17.00 per person.  The evening begins with dinner which includes entertainment by chanteuse Sam Reed.  Following dinner there will be an elder’s council of couples with more than 20 years of marriage a piece.  Childcare is being donated by Culture 4 My Kids.  In years past BMDRVA has consisted of a day filled with workshops, this year will give married, unmarried and singles a chance to unplug and be entertained while still being nurtured mind, body and soul.  By offering a night that encourages fun, romance, and learning BMDRVA still seeks to encourage the bonds of healthy relationships, healthy marriages, and healthy communities.

Ticket proceeds will be donated to Culture for My Kids, East District Family Resource Center and Umoja Temple.

Tickets will be more at the door the night of the event.

Umoja Temple: Celebrating Black Marriage Day

Umoja Temple is a community where our mission is to create a space for the understanding of, appreciation for and participation in the various spiritual and cultural traditions of Africans throughout the Diaspora. To that end we gather once a month on second Sunday sharing our homes with each other while seeking to heal ourselves while celebrating our ancestors, elders, ourselves and our children. If you are interested in joining us please email umojatemple@gmail.com and we will include you on our email updates to let you know of the location of each Second Sunday gathering.
