Tied Together: Understanding Differences in Light of our Common Humanity
Event Information
About this Event
Diversity, inclusion, and equity are on everyone's mind these days. We have heard a great deal about "systemic racism," "white privilege," and "implicit bias." But many people are wondering whether these ideas are really helping us achieve the goal of living together harmoniously and equitably.
Mr. Ismael Hernandez is the founder of the Freedom & Virtue Institute, and the author of an excellent book, Not Tragically Colored: Freedom, Personhood, and the Renewal of Black America. He has been conducting workplace seminars on diversity, but his sessions proceed on very different principles than the "diversity & inclusion" sessions offered by most employers . In this event, he will share some of this material to show how a true appreciation for diversity and inclusion starts not with a focus on our differences, but on our common humanity.
The following video provides some background about Mr. Hernandez and the Freedom & Virtue Institute.
