Event description

Description

This event is intended to bring together some of the greatest minds in the field of Tick Borne Illness to educate both the public and the medical community here on the East End of Long Island. The event will last all day – from 9:00am – 5:00pm and will include an allergen-friendly buffet-style lunch with gourmet-wraps in the conference room where you can visit all of our exhibitors and vendors!

The morning session will be geared towards professionals in the healthcare field, while the afternoon session will be more focused on patient and public concerns in regards to Tick Borne Illnesses. The event schedule will be updated and posted on www.tickwise.org

The Symposium features presentations with world renowned doctors like past presidents of ILADS Dr. Robert Bransfield, MD, DLFAPA & Dr. Dan Cameron, MD, MPH, author of “Lyme Disease Takes On Medicine”. Pediatric tick borne illness expert Dr. Rosalie Greenberg, MD, author of “Bipolar Kids: Helping Your Child Find Calm in the Mood Storm”. Dr. Joe Burrascano will also be at the symposium representing our sponsor IGeneX laboratories, he will be speaking on the testing for Tick Borne Illnesses in the laboratory. We also plan on bringing up some local doctors for a Q & A panel discussion where our local and global experts will field questions from the audience.

There will also be presentations and book signings with Jenna Luche-Thayer, author of "$lyme" and "The Ad hoc Committee for Health Equity in ICD11 Diagnosis Codes", and a book signing with Kris Newby, author of the upcoming tell-all about Lyme Disease “Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease” scheduled for release on May 14th, 2019. Kris Newby, MSME, is a science writer for the Stanford Center for Clinical & Translational Research & Education and was the Senior Producer of the award winning film "Under Our Skin".

Come and educate yourself, learn about the latest tests for Lyme and coinfections, check out helpful supplements and healing modalities, and get a signed book to keep the learning going even after May 18th! Perhaps consider buying a book for your physician that explains how the recent updates to the ICD11 (International Classification of Diseases, 11th edition) increases the number of diagnosis codes from 4 codes to 15 codes for treating Lyme and how this can help you get an accurate diagnosis, and help your physician get paid for treating it!

We are inviting local and national vendors to present products such as health and wellness food and drinks, tick bite prevention clothing and sprays, essential oil sprays for tick bite prevention from 3Mom’s organics sprays, nutritional supplements and alternative testing companies for tick borne illness detection. We are also inviting other non-profits to join us at this event; plan on seeing our Alpha-Gal specialist Beth Carrington at a vendor table! She is happy to provide the answers you need for all things related to Alpha-Galactose / red meat allergy! Please see our page on www.tickwise.org for information about how to become an exhibitor at our event!

Please check www.tickwise.org for updates to our vendor and speaker lists!

*Please note that on occasion, changes to the venue are beyond the event coordinator’s control. Although our general policy is that tickets are only refundable 30 days before the event, if you are coming solely for one vendor or one speaker and that person is removed from the event listing for some reason, please email me at april@tickwise.org and I will look in to providing a refund for your ticket.
