David Toop is a musician, author, and scholar of indigenous music disciplines from around the world.

He currently resides as professor and Chair of Audio Culture and Improvisation at London College of

Communication. He has been involved with the groups The Flying Lizards, Frank Chickens, and Alterations. He first

released music, in 1975, on Brian Eno's Obscure Records imprint, and has continued recorded output with a

number of solo and collaborative works through the years. As an editor he co-founded the magazines MUSICS and

Collusion and as journalist he has written for The Face and The Wire. He has written, amongst many books, Rap

Attack, Ocean of Sound, Into the Maelstrom and the forthcoming Flutter Echo (to be published by Ecstatic Peace

Library, UK).

Thurston Moore, originally from New York City, now London-based, was a founding member of

experimental post-punk group Sonic Youth, and works in various ensembles in North America, Britain, Japan and

throughout Europe. He has performed with the artists Yoko Ono, Cecil Taylor, Irmin Schmidt, Patti Smith, Merce

Cunningham, John Zorn, Milford Graves and many others. His most recent recordings were Rock n Roll

Consciousness (Fiction, UK), Offerings (Ecstatic Peace Library, UK) and the Mx Liberty/Panik 7" (Blank Editions, UK) with the forthcoming 12 x 12-string guitar recording of the extended instrumental composition Galaxies (live at the Barbican) due for early 2019 release.

Both David Toop and Thurston Moore have worked together in quartet and trio as part of the long-running UK

improvising group Alterations alongside Steve Beresford and Terry Day. As well as with the composer Tania Chen

heard on the CD John Cage: Electronic Music for Piano (Omnivore Recordings 2018 USA). Tonight's performance is

the premier and extremely rare instance of this duo in performance in the United States.
