Sunday Group Breakfast 9AM

Activity Leader Steve Winters 303-570-7690

Ski w/ Doug, Rob and Steve TBD

12-3 PM Hoosier Pass Ski and Snowshoe Backcountry Adventures!

Meet at Residence Inn at 11:30 a.m. Caravan up to Hoosier Pass 10 miles south of Breckenridge to Hoosier Pass parking area. From there we can get a cool Thunderbird Group picture at the Hoosier Pass sign and then split up for our excursions. The drive up to the Pass and brief walkabout around the parking area is reason enough to make the trek. Hoosier Pass is one of the highest elevation paved roads in Colorado with absolutely stunning views! From the parking area there are ski and snowshoe trails easily accessible for a variety of skill levels.

Note: Hoosier Pass is at elevation 11,539. That’s pretty high! Bring water and be careful not to overexert on this excursion! Neither of these excursion options will be overly strenuous (unless you want it to be), but at high elevation it is important to be a little more cautious than normal.

Option 1: Backcountry ski with Steve Mack around the “Circus” trail network for an hour or two. Intermediate and advanced skiers preferred. These trails aren’t dangerous but you should be comfortable on skis, as we will be off-trail at many points. Also, we’ll need to rent backcountry skis from Breck Nordic Center before we go. Contact Steve for more information.

Option 2: Backcountry snowshoe with Wendy Mack around Hoosier Pass trails for an hour or two. This is the more relaxed high country adventure, compared to Option 1. But the views are incredible on both the ski and snowshoe excursions! We will have some extra snowshoes, but depending on the number who sign up for this we may need to rent snowshoes in Breckenridge before we go. Steve Mack can help with details.

Option 3: On your own at Breckenridge Nordic Center for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or relaxing in the lodge (at a much more reasonable 9800 ft elevation).
