Meet your host:
Steve Ausburne’s comedy career started with MC/Host work for friends with bands. His first attempt at actual stand up ended with him getting a lifetime ban from a church in Grant’s Pass, Oregon – so a pretty successful start.
Since then, Steve has embraced the stage as a place to present a spoken word memoir of all the embarrassing life moments that lurk in a place that only stand up or therapy sessions can reveal.
Basically, Steve has no shame.
Steve peddles his comedic wares throughout Sonoma County and the San Francisco Bay Area performing anywhere from clubs like The Punch Line to dive bars you're afraid to walk into. He runs a monthly comedy show every third Thursday at thumbprint cellars' tasting room and in addition to comedy performances, he is available for auctioneering, event hosting, work parties, voice acting, and private dancing.
Meet your Feature Comedians:
As far as mid-life crisis go, Phil Griffiths’ wife stacks his career in stand up comedy as better than a drug addiction but worse than him having a mistress. With his dry deadpan humor, Phil performs all over the Bay Area and shares his slightly off observations on fatherhood. Phil has opened for Brad Williams, Jermaine Fowler and Myq Kaplan. He has performed in the San Diego, Sacramento, Chico and Santa Cruz Comedy Festivals. Most recently he was a top ten finalist in the 2016 San Francisco Comedy Competition.
Torio Van Grol was first discovered by a gentleman naturalist in 1676, causing an uproar among the clergy, who claimed that he was placed on Earth by God as a test of faith. After much careful study, Torio has been widely accepted as real, though some controversy lingers. Many people believe that early humans coexisted peacefully with him, even caring for him and riding on his back as a form of transportation.
But Torio is not strong enough to carry people, instead relying on speed, cunning and a bulletproof eBay rating for survival.
After being raised by the Bay Area comedy scene, Torio recently relocated to Los Angeles in search of new neighborhoods to gentrify. In 2016, he was listed as one of the Bay Area's best stand-up comedians by SFist. He won the title, "Best Joke of 2015" by the award-winning SF blog Courting Comedy.
Torio has performed at SF Sketchfest for the past two years, as well as many other comedy festivals including the 10,000 Laughs Festival, Santa Cruz Fringe Festival and more.
Meet your headliner:
Conan and Comedy Central veteran Ahmed Bharoocha is half Irish Catholic, half Pakistani-Indian-Burmese-Muslim, and wholly a master of punctuating striking social commentary with high-energy theatrics. During high school his family relocated from Santa Barbara to Rhode Island, where Bharoocha made the leap from Stitches Comedy Club dishwasher to open micer. While attending the University of Rhode Island he frequented Boston’s Comedy Studio, becoming a Comic in Residence in the process. In 2010 Bharoocha won the Magner’s International Comedy Festival and soon moved to Los Angeles (specifically his sister’s dining-room floor). There he began producing weekly web shorts with Ryan O’Flanagan and Jack Robichaud for their Dead Kevin YouTube channel; the viral sketch trio has since been featured on Tosh.0 , Funny or Die and named one of L.A. Weekly’s 2013 Comedy Acts to Watch. As a solo stand-up, Bharoocha’s festival performances include Just for Laughs Montreal, the Moontower Comedy Festival, Riot L.A., the Great American Comedy Festival and Scotland’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival. Most recently he appeared on Adam DeVine’s House Party, Viceland’s Flophouse and was cast as a series regular on this fall’s Adult Swim series Dream Corp.
