Event description

Description

As the world becomes more and more reliant on the Internet for daily life, people with disabilities are often being left behind by websites and other digital media which are designed with unintentional barriers to equal access. The digital accessibility landscape is changing, however, as record numbers of ADA related lawsuits are being brought against private companies, government organizations, and even the advertising agencies that build sites mobile technologies for clients.

This session will provide public relations professionals with an overview of the different categories of disability for consideration, a demonstration of some of the technologies users with disabilities rely on to access the internet, the current legal landscape and your liability, as well as some non-techie guidance on how to check for and fix some of the most common issues.
